I have been able to get my D40 on my lap 3 times, sitting in an armless chair, then tilt the top of the Guild upward at a slight angle... :(
I can play somewhat comfy; gentle picking, light strumming...for nearly 20 minutes
before i withdraw from the pain. :?
It has been 32 days since surgery. I can finally shave, brush my teeth, tie my shoes and wash my armpits with moderate discomfort. A am pleased with my progress of late. A bit more mobility each new day. :)
My callouses are intact as well as my spirit and attitude.
I am very optomistic !

I was thinking about you last night and just wondered how the recovery was going. I know that it's never fast enough, and that sometimes there are times when it doesn't seem like anything is getting better. I hope you're not experiencing any of those times, or if you have, that they are all long gone by now.

Cheers.

Thank you for the kind concerns.
I'm sleeping much better thanks to the healing process and Ambien CR.
I've been encouraged to decrease the use of the arm sling
and my physical therapy is beginning to ramp up.
Lots of pain associated with p/t. I know it's necessary,but I DON'T LIKE IT MUCH !
I'm realizing that I am not the tough guy I thought I was. :?
I was able to play guitar standing upright for about 10 minutes
on Tuesday getting ready to try again after lunch.
Here's a couple interior/exterior shoulder pics...

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear that you are able to play the guitar, even if it's just a bit.
Those screws do look kinda creepy.

My sister-in-law recently had knee replacement surgery. She was feeling very satisfied that should could bend her knee 90 degrees - until she went for her physical therapy and the PT bent it back another 45 degrees causing excruciating pain. Then she said to my sister-in-law, "See, that's why you come to me. You wouldn't be able to do that yourself." It may be true, but it still wasn't very comforting.

I hope you can see past the pain to the better days ahead.
