Anyone use the strings on their bass? How did you like them?

NECRO THREAD!!!! I'm bored and reading through the bass section here and felt the need to bump this lonely thread :)

back nearly 20 years ago, I was in LOVE with those strings. Not sure if they are still the same, but they were the perfect touch of old school, while retaining the sustain and clarity of the rounds I had been using since I started in the 80s.

Custom 5 string 51 P bass with DiMarzio Ultra Jazz pickups and a Suhr preamp...
with a pick
slapped / chords / and fingerstyle soloing even

Custom 6 string 51 P bass with a Suhr Dual Coil pickup and preamp...

fretless even

Unfortunately I knew SIT via someone that turned me sour on everything he touched... so I went elsewhere. The fretted 5 wears Deep Talkin' Flats that are at least 15 years old now, and the fretless 6 has TI Jazz flats.

I’m curious about these SIT flats as well. I’ve only tried their pure nickel guitar strings, which were very good. However, I do really like Dunlop flatwound bass strings. They are worth a try if you’re curious- somewhat similar to Labella 760FLs.

Thanks for the info and posting sound samples!!!!
I had a set on after I asked about them on the thread but couldn't give them a fair run cuz ...........the low E was defective. Put Rotos back on because I thought something was wrong with my bass. Nope. everything fine.
I don't know why but seems like most times I get flat sets with one defective sting in them. So frustrating.

I'm not surprised. l was playing a lot of AC/DC, channeling Angus several hours a night - I self tought myself rock guitar 1980-1983 - and the strings did stay in tune, and sounded killer, prob because of some hot new alloy, beyond steel/nickel, so I used nothing but that brand forever, and then eventually reverted to using Slinkies because of the price 3 for $10 when I got more into guitar peddling, and then eventully back to Boomers, my original strings from the 70's, and nowadays I'm using primarily GHS.
