No, my error. Thnx!
Have you driven over, Steve? Most manufacturing shops that I've visited have an office of some sort where you can get stuff, even if it's not advertised that way. Anyway, that's cool.I wish they had a building with a counter service. They are right in the ZIP code where I work.
No, he works out of his home, and specifically states that there is no in person pickup. He did sell a couple of things to me once, only because I delivered 8-10 boxes to him in person.Have you driven over, Steve? That's a fair argument regarding the D-20, Br1ck, but it doesn't hold for the F-40 Traditional that GGJaguar was talking about earlier. The problem with the lowest rung on the model ladder is that once you add this, and add that, get a pearl logo, etc., you end up with a $500 retail increase. Then complaints pour in about expense. How many can't stand the D 25 three on a plate tuners back in the day. Yet fifty three years later, my D 35 tuners work fine, as does the substandard spruce top. The silkscreen logo is darned near faded away though. And the Guild logo case is in fine shape, though it is not arched like the better ply cases. Certainly more durable than the falling apart 07 Martin plastic case I replaced with a Hiscox. Guild has made a terrific guitar for what these days is not a lot of money.
I can't answer your question. Some people just need to tinker. No need, but no harm either. Just say that when my luthiers called to ask what I wanted to do with the tuners when I had all the work done on my D 35, he was happy when I said nothing. The DerJung's on Bob's guitar aren't universally badmouthed, and have some good reviews. Also, they are dropins for many modern Martin Grover and Waverly found on their standard series and others. I just don't happen to like the scallop type button that comes with the Grovers.
Might follow your advice, Bob, and call Guild for a set. Otherwise, I'm stuck with SMac Golden Age Restoration machines or higher dollar Waverly.
Why can't I leave well enough alone?
Yeah, it was a lot of work to replace the tuners on my M-40. Unfortunately, the original tuner bushings needed to be removed and they are in there tight! I managed to pry up the headstock facing a little when the bushings came out. The new bushings fit and the existing screw holes match, so these Gotohs are a possibility. Still have the originals if anybody needs themWould any Gotoh's fit, like gotoh-sxb510v ? I think the shaft diameter is different. Not sure if the bushings are the same outer diameter.
