Here's the chorus:

City ties, binding me.
City ties, bright lights and broadway.
All that glitters is not gold dear Lord
These city lights are cold.
I have to break away from here and get back home.

Anyone know the song? The rest of the words?

Peace

I think it's a Ray La Montagne song, but cant remember which one and can't find out since I grew sick of the CD and gave it away. Think it's on God willing and the creek dont rise ?

Cheers, Ian

I found it. I've been tearing my place apart the last few days. I just knew I had a piece of music or an album or something. I went through about 100 cassette tapes. Ya think that was a chore? A big chore considering there wasn't one tape of this group. The song in question, City Ties, was on a Bluegrass Collection tape. Now I have quite a few "collection" bluegrass collection tapes so I ended up listening to a few of 'em until I found the song and the name of the group. So, now I have all the words and remember the tune. Unfortunately, it's going to remain a mystery to the rest of you until I do some uploading to soundclick, if ya wanna take that risk. :) But here's the group.

And here's the only thing I found on youtube

I remembers that band. 1970's?

I clicked the link; I think it's a different band. The band I was thinking of were contemporaries of Bluegrass Alliance and the original Newgrass Revival.

You're right, it is a different group. I had lost the cassette cover/insert but I do seem to recall that the bluegrass mix was entitled Red, White, and Bluegrass. And yes, there was definitely a connection with Newgrass Revival. Thanks

Peace
