My guess is that it might have been what was available at the time. Why did the shop use a Bigsby? Was that a common practice or would it have been special ordered that way? Beautiful guitar!

That would be the regular strap button location during that particular period. There were times that the strap button was mounted on the heel cap, but not during 1999. Notice that your guitar doesn't have a heel cap!Hans, what do you think about the strap button location?

Nothing's wrong, Alex. Did someone say there is?exactly! I see and can’t understand what’s wrong
Ooh, sorry, Alex. I might be wrong about that. I'm not sure if there is or is not supposed to be a heel cap on your guitar's neck heel. I'm pretty sure most/all of the regular SFIVs do. Your guitar looks a bit ragged and naked right there, so perhaps there is supposed to be.Thanks!
I'm not sure if that guitar ever had a heel cap. It does not look like. But the heel has a slight opening as it looks however between the body and the neck. But as long as it is stable that should be of no concern.Ooh, sorry, Alex. I might be wrong about that. I'm not sure if there is or is not supposed to be a heel cap on your guitar's neck heel.
