I have a '66 that I'm considering trading in, partly due to condition and partly because of the saddles. I palm mute a lot, and those things dig into my hand because they're pointy, shaped like little Monopoly houses.

So far as I can tell, that was originally a Hagstrom bridge. I think I remember a similar problem on the Hagstroms I had. Did they ever switch to something more comfortable to palm mute? Every XII I've looked at seemed to have that same style saddles, even in 2023.

Alternately, has anyone come up with a good recommended replacement for either the saddles or the whole bridge/saddle arrangement?

Considering picking up a cherry mahogany XII, but I know I won't play it much if I can't palm mute. It's too ingrained in my style for me to even want to change.

Is it the floating rosewood one or did they put the metal Hagstrom style on? This is the 12 string variant yes?
