International Guitar Night is back again, on the road with a North American tour starting in January 2023.

Stephanie Jones :)love::love::love::love::love:--me fanboy) who bailed out of the North American leg of the 2022 tour is back on the bill.

I am buying tickets today. I hope she shows up this time.

And we saw the final night of the North American tour last night at the Gordon Center in Owings Mills, MD. Thanks again to @Canard for putting this in my radar a couple of years ago.

It was outstanding: 4 very fine yet very different guitarists: Olli Soikkeli, Stephanie Jones, Jesus Guerrero, and Jocelyn Gould. You wouldn't think gypsy jazz, classical, flamenco, traditional jazz (respectively) would blend and mix, but they do.

Oh man, do they ever.

What was interesting to me was these are four absurdly talented and skilled guitarists - each capable of holding the audience enthralled during their solo pieces.

Yet Ms. Jones was on a different, higher plane: The precision, tone, fluidity and sheer musicality were astonishing. I've seen some great guitarists perform, and she's the best I've ever seen.

They are touring again next year - If they are playing near you see them.

The line up here had Itamar Erez rather than Olli Soikkeli. It was a great show.

What was different about the performance is that it wasn't a pissing contest as some shows had been in the past. Ms. Jones talked about cooperating with and learning from each other. The performers worked to support and encourage each other rather than cut each other.

It was fun watching Jones try out the fledgling and slightly shaky Flamenco chops she had obviously learned from Jesus Guerrero.

The only disappointment was that the Yamaha CGX122MC (I think) she was using was not up to the sonic standards of her luthier-built instruments. I can understand why she is touring with the Yamaha. It is natively electric--ease of stage use. It is a good, well-made guitar. It is not expensive in comparison to her normal instruments--no heartbreak if it gets damaged or stolen. It is easily replaceable. It sounds good, if not spectacular.
