Hey folks... have a specific kind of a question for us folks who are slinging a Guild maple archback. Mine is a 1978 G37. The question is...ta dun...is anyone out in the realm with a maple archback using D'Addario XS strings? I recently got the guitar and after installing a Tusq compensated saddle my first string experiment was with 80/20s. I love them. Since I tried Elixirs on the Martin D28 and like them, I thought I'd try these fancy schmantzy XS strings. Just have a feeling I might like them. I hope I do at 20 bucks a swing for these things. Hope they last a minute before the mids turn to mush. Thanks ahead of time for the info. Blessings on all.

I have an '81 G37. To my ears coated strings don't sound as good as not coated strings sound, though they sound good for a lot longer.

Sticking with my D'Addario phosphor bronze.

On the subject of mids on a maple guitar I suggest you give a set of Curt Mangan round-core 80/20's a try.
They have this uncanny trick of lifting the mids in the balance.
Not a Guild (sorry) but a 2020 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1957 SJ-200.

As with all round-core strings, take care installing - no pre-cutting!
