That's a nice looking copy Carmela. I have a F395S which is a shameless copy of a Guild F512. I will never sell this guitar. It was made in 1978 and that aged wood sounds delicous!
I would do what I could to tweak up your guitar...Example...bone nut and saddle (unless of course it already has them. Then just play the heck out of it...that's a nice combination of guitars you have...I would say it is pretty much an ideal set. The only thing better would be if they were both Guilds.
Enjoy! :D

What a coincidence...last night I played a friend's Takamine F395S; first time I saw it. We were laughing at what a nice copy of a Guild it is (I was playing my D50). He mentioned he would like to sell it after the New Year sometime. It has a cleated crack from the soundhole up towards the neck. It sounded very nice, couldn't compare it to a real Guild because I've never played a 12-string Guild before.

Any guess as to what the value of the F395S may be? I'm not in the market for his guitar but someone here might and I'll suggest he posts it here when the time comes.

Thanks,
Kevin

It's hard to say what it is worth nowadays. Very hard to find information on these Taks. All I know is that they are less common than the Takamine Martin copies that show up on e-bay all the time. I do know that there was a gentleman in the UK a few weeks back on e-bay that sold his Takamine Guild copy of the 512. The bidding ended at just over $1000 USD...it was in fantastic shape, but still very surprising seeing that you can pick up a genuine Guild JF30-12 for under that. I guess it just a matter of how badly someone wants it!

Thanks to all for the great suggestions on getting the end pin out of this guitar! Anyone have any thoughts on what Guild they were trying to copy with this one? I'm at a loss!

Thanks again,
Carmela

Very true 12-stringer! Although I must say, these old Taks really do sing! But you already know that :D

A local music store has that model of Tak, autographed by Wynona (sp?) Judd (not sure if that adds or detracts from it's value, but maybe it's removable  )...it was going for $395, last time I was in there.

Nice neck, nice tone, much nicer than most of the Taks I've run across. No built-in p/u, strictly acoustic.
