I probably know the answer to this already but I'm loathed to let my DV6 out of my sight (as I love her so). Anyway here's the story, bought my Tacoma built DV6 last December, and I am totally happy with it, love it to bits in fact, however today whilst giving her a good clean I notice that the bridge plate has the ever so slightest gap it under it right at the back, I can slide a piece of paper under the fattest piece of the bridge in about 3mm. Should I be worried at this point, should I wait and see what happens or should I get in touch with the store I bought it from and send it back for inspection/repair?(no idea if it would be an in house repair or if they'd send it to Fender UK) I bought it mail order and the store is too far away to drive to so it'll have to be sent by courier. Or should I take it to a known a proven and very, very good luthier who is quite local and get him to assess it? I was going to take it to him for a check up and tweak anyway.

Thankyou

Yes, have it looked at.
It's your call as to who makes the repair.
Call the service dept, at Fender and see if they will allow the repair to be done locally.

Low humidity is a leading cause of bridge lifting.
Are you humidifing the guitar between 40% and 60%?
If not, it will get worse.
Loosen the strings for now, so no further damage will happen.

I feel that having a "proven and very, very good luthier" check it out is a good first step. I had a similar situation with my now-prized D-25, and it all worked out fine.
I also know how difficult it can be to part with loved ones! :D

Best to you,
Joe

Hi Señor Lopez; I'd have it checked locally. Worst case, it's a big ugly mess underneath; loose braces, split bridge deck, and failing glue joint .. If that were the case, then I'd send it back. If the braces and bridge plate are intact and it's a matter of the bridge-to-deck glue joint beginning to slowly give way, depending on how much local man wanted v. the headaches of shipping / shipping risk / and the wait, you might consider having him pop it off and re-fasten it.

Are we still talking about the bridge itself or the bridge plate?

It's probably not lifting, it probably just didn't have enough glue applied when they put the bridge on. Take it to a local guy for a look see....
