Keep in mind, a lot of the song was edited out…sax solo, etc. Danny was also the perfect backing player that is happy playing chords while a band mate gets the spotlight. He never really wanted the shredders spotlight. It wasn’t until he was on the cover of Guitar Player mag being called “The greatest guitarist you’ve never heard of!”, that crowds began to morph from local friends/fans to a room full of guitarists expecting to see him impress, and so that’s what they got. Brian Setzer’s Sleepwalk was also a shredders dream, as was Stevie Ray Vaughn’s.Man, rarely do you see a fingerboard that evenly worn. That guy is all over the instrument. Very cool and very masterful.
Having said that, and no offense intended, but a lot of that fancy stuff is just too showy for Sleepwalk. Just my opinion. Jeff Beck would've been a lot less flashy, IMO.
