getting close to finishing up my S-90 project. still figuring out pickguard options (the original looks like hell, i'll either get a new one made to that size of i MIGHT get a custom made one more like the s-100 but that come is a bit betweeb the pickups to cover the wire cavity), but most of the rest is done. the two "wet" looking spots are where i just threw on a couple more layers of Tru Oil, few more layers then I'll knock it down with 0000 steel wool again. the cracks in that area showed themselves again when I put the jack in, I'm worried that this is going to come back to me again when I start playing it, but we'll see what happens when it happens.

That's looking really nice Hugo !

Satin finish every time for me too.

There's such a choice of pickguard material out there ......... that would be the part that I'd agonize over ! A non-traditional shape for me.

Looking forward to seeing this finished.

Gary.

Looks gorgeous - well done. Can't wait to see the finished product. Nice grain to that baby.

Looking great! The grain is so nice it seems a shame to cover it up with a pick-guard. You could go with a clear one if not for the wiring cavity.
What are you leaning towards colour-wise? Can you get off-cut samples of pickguard material to eyeball them against the body?

i was thinking something in a cream tone to compliment the brown wood tones. real '70's vibe.
although i'm not totally sure where i'm gonna go. there's a company in manhattan callled Canal Plastics that will make any gauge and color lucite into whatever you want from an .eps file, which was my plan when i wanted to do a clear one, but with that cavity i'm thinking cream. not sure if they carry anything that would make sense, gonna go down and check it out around wednesday.

also need to find a truss rod cover.

You might want to try a virtual guitar site, such as http://www.fender.com/en-GB/community/guitarbuilder/ for inspiration.
The fender one doesn't give much choice of pickguard colours unfortunately, but you might be able to find something better online. Or make your own.
Here are a couple I threw together on Fender's site.
I would have said black too (if it were me, which it ain't), but having seen the Fender aged white on natural, it is pretty darn nice (except for the guitar... )

Nice Tull track - never heard that one before.

I did wonder how a pickguard in British racing green might look. Or even the right shade of apricot/orange. No such option on Fender guitarbuilder however.
Here I go, coveting my neighbours' guitars again...

NO!
I will NOT put my Guilds at risk with colorful pick guards!! But wait.... It's not mine we're talking about.... Go ahead Hugo hit the green, yellow, purple or peach! Life is short! (And my Nature Boy is safe with its clear guard)

Let me just throw another pickguard option out there, http://www.woodguarden.com. They are made to your wood choice and come finished, but without a clear coat and no shielding on the back. I had a pickguard and backplate made for my Fender Classic Player 50s Stratocaster, tinted the same as the fretboard, because I thought the single-ply white plastic was too stark looking against the sunburst finish.

If I had kept this one, I might have taken the customizing all the way with black knobs and pickup covers.
