Not sure if this is old news or not, but The Guild Guitar Book, by Hans Moust, is now available for Kindle Fire Digital Download.

Really a game changer, especially if you already own a Kindle Fire. Think about it, you are in some guitar shop for a set of strings or some cables, all of a sudden you see some old Guild on the wall screaming for you...you have a thousand questions...and the Kindle Fire is in your pocket, or a pocket book, or maybe out in the car. Especially if you are traveling in a different town, that you might not be back to soon after...and it is likely you would have your Kindle Fire device on a long trip anyway.

Indeed. I have a copy of Hans' book on my iPad as I type this. Don't leave home without it!

I tried the app awhile ago and it didn't work for $h*t on my Android tablet. I tried quite a few actually and settled on MoonReader+ (which - unlike others - works smoothly and doesn't move files from the SD card to the internal memory where I don't want them piling up).

Color me quaint and noble, especially when the batteries run down. :rugby:

Joe

I used to be of the same mind set, till my wife bought a Nook, we now have no piles & boxes of near worthless paperback murder mysteries laying about, cluttering up our living space.

Be advised, my wife is on Nook #5, our experience with the Nook is they are not particularly reliable.

I was going to say to Joe, don't knock the ereaders until you've tried one. I read a lot, and every 10 years or so I'd have to haul boxes of books out to clear off the shelves (at my wife's request - I'd have kept them). That problem is now gone, and I quickly adapted. Started with an original Kindle (which I still own) but now I read mainly on my ASUS Android tablet. Great for reading, and a lot of other things.

What file format are Kindle ebooks?

More than you ever wanted to know about ebook file formats here, Geoff. Of all of them, I like epub the best, and wish that you could get Hans' book that way.

Ah ah! I see you're "hurricane-ready" now Sandy hmmm? :biggrin-new:

Well, it seems like we've been getting these "100 year storms" just about every year here. Just waiting for this year's iteration...

I'm not knocking anything that anyone else loves/likes, I'm just saying that I prefer the feel of real books....batteries not included. :rugby:

Joe
I do understand, Joe. But there are some real conveniences. I can change the font, the size of the text, the contrast, the background color, text color and all sorts of stuff to help my aging eyesight. I find this very convenient. Plus with my device fully charged, I don't have to struggle to read by candle or oil-lamp light during a power out. And as if THAT isn't enough, I can loan you a book I think you'd like, without having to go to the post office. A click of an icon and my book flies off to you in SECONDS!! If you tried it, I think you would see there are certain advantages.

Of course, there are disadvantages, too. Although I'm hard pressed to think of one..... :encouragement:

I'm hearing/reading all the pros, etc., but to reiterate...."I like/prefer real books."
There are no knocks intended so let's hope that none are taken.

I have an ithis and an ethat and my laptop and my digital this and that, but give me a good book and a shade tree on a riverbank and I'm one happy camper.

My dos centavos stands as delivered, and I shall not be moved! :rugby:

Until somebody cuts down that tree...

(wait for it)

...to make a book!

No knocks intended or taken, Joe. I said I'd never give up real books, too. :rugby:

We understand Joe. But do you realize the advantages of e-books? :very_drunk:
Reminds me of the pieces of flair in "Office Space".

LMAO
