Been lurking for quite some time. Nice place!

This is my Emerald Star III. The serial number dates it at 1962 but I'm told the knobs are '63.

It has the Melita bridge......

........and kolb tuners.

The neck has seen some action........

The headstock veneer is curling up like a British rail sandwich but I don't care, I love it! Taking it to a little music festival I'm involved in this May.

This is my F47. It's a 1967 and like a baby F50. Big sound and a smashing acoustic guitar!

I'm lovin' the F-47, especially. It really has the classic Hoboken bridge.

Nice Starfire, too.

Welcome and thanks for the pix.

I'm curious - what about the control knobs dates them to 1963 instead of 1962?

What Frono said. Black knobs debuted in 1964.

isn't that a Star II?

Star III should have a Bigsby.

I had a very nice 1960 Star III with Bigsby (not Guild branded, too early) and black dynasonics. they had nice colours in those days. Mine was kind of maroon/dark cherry, very different to the brighter red they used later. It was totally mint too.

Apologies, I think they were introduced in '64.

Maybe the guitar hung around on a rack waiting for a dealer order and passed through a few spec' changes.

I was wondering if the board is slab Brazilian or a veneer?

I don't think they (ever?) did veneer fretboards, strato... If it's BRW, then it's solid.

Nice Emerald Star! If the label is unaltered it is likely that it originally shipped with a Guild Bigsby tailpiece. Mine is an ES II, but with the "Guildsby" tailpiece. When mine was bought new in 1966, an emerald SFII and a red SFIII were bought at the same time and the tailpieces were swapped after the sale. As I understand it, tailpiece swapping on Starfires was a fairly common practice.
