What Breedlove do you have? I love mine!! (y)(y)
I actually have two . An exotic oregon myrtle wood. And a signature concerto model my daughter and son in law gifted to me. Good guitars, I'm just not sure the torrefied top on the signature model makes that much difference

Another happy myrtlewood Breedlove-USA guitar owner here, as well as one of their USA mandolins. Good stuff!

I'd love to see photos of them if you'd care to share. My Oregon Concert Rogue is spruce top myrtle wood back and sides. Such a lovely guitar So photos? Here's mine.

Question: Why would one put a top through a torrefaction process other than to speed up the drying process? Note: I know nothing about this.
This bit explains the process and reason why it's done. Kind of summarizes...

Canada .... brrr
I am as suspect of artificially ageing instrument parts as of artificially playing the instrument with tonerite. I guess you will have to combine both things to mimic "opening up" if you believe in that sort of stuff.

I suspect artificial aging will shorten the optimal usable lifetime, but, hey, if it doesn't fail on your watch.....

My wife bought me a nice Adirondack topped guitar almost 20 years ago. I admit I had my doubts about the sound in the first decade, but since then, it will be the instrument they pry from my fingers.

Of course manufacturers make money on new guitars, not old ones.

My wife tells me I can't hear worth a crap, so I don't know if the Taylor I bought brand new 15 years ago sounds better today or not, though I still love it. The old man variable has entered into the equation.

I think the hope is that while it won't sound like a super-old guitar, it will get you started and pointed/or headed in the right direction. Which, at my phase (or stage) in life, is not a bad idea! Whether or not it works, is subjective. The one I played was fantastic. Though that was a sample size of one...

Have lost about 70% hearing in left ear due to Meniere's disease.

Brain began to compensate such that now it's primarily directional sensing that's affected, although environments that exaggerate ambient background noise are also problematic.

From Brian Xavier Martin (former QC Director at Guild) on facebook regarding the same question, I'm assuming asked from the same person since it was posted the same day as here.
