Beautiful Pacific NW!
Having a strong desire to sample a Heritage Super Eagle I sold my X-500 on eBay two months ago for $2900. It was in excellent condition with no issues.

Since that time I've observed 2 X500's sell on eBay for $2100 and $2200. A week ago a X700 sold there for $2750.

Being an archtop guy I've rarely any need to go to GC, but being a piano player it's not uncommon for me to pay them a visit checking out the latest in keyboards.

I've attempted to trade in 2 guitars at GC over the years both of which were mint. GC has the typical USED car dealer policy with respect to trade in's....buy low, i.e., below wholesale value, or many times below known street value, and sell high, therefore I'd never ever consider trading anything in at GC.

I'm not even a fan of selling on eBay due to the double blind fees having to pay both eBay and paypal, both the same company in reality.

Not everyone has the patience to deal with craigslist types but if you're willing to be patient selling your used anything always rewards you whether its a car or a guitar. In the case of this X500 it's likely at minimum the trader gave away $500. The trader seems to be happy with his deal, so more power to him. But for $500 it would be worth my time to sell a X-500 myself for the simple reason they're an in demand archtop in spite of the fact it doesn't say ***son on the headstock. That's my .02

I did it... I traded the X-500 for a natural finish American Standard ($1,200) Tele and got $100 in cash.

The guy was straight with me in that he felt that they could retail the Guild for $1,800 to $2,000. I think that this is fair.

I ordered it and should se it in about 3 days.

Thanks to everyone for the insight!

It'll be interesting to see what GC turns around and prices the X-500 at.

American Standard tele + $100 traded for a vintage X-500.... Definitely not a fair trade in my opinion...

p.s. you will love the telecaster however...

I found the Guitar Center listing for my old Guild X-500.

http://www.vintageguitars.net/products/ ... ?id=203637

They're asking $2,000. They technically gave me $1,400 for it after the dust settled. I understand that they need to make a profit and I also understand that they will probably sell the Guild for less than the $2k asking price.

I will tell you all that the Guild was one of the best playing guitars I've ever played and it was tough to part with it, but it was difficult to deal with in loud venues and it was very bulky on stage.

If I new how to get pictures into these posts, I'd post pictures of me actually playing it on stage. And I's also post pics of the new Tele.

Can anyone tell me how to place pics into a post?

Short answer - upload them to a picture sharing site and link to them here.

Long answer.

Remember that the Preview button is your friend. A lot of folks get confused about the difference between a link to an album page at a photo site, which will not work, and the image (alone) which is what is needed.
