Sandy,
Did the F-40 have an allen screw as the adjustment mechanism? I don't think I ever adjusted that one so I just took it for granted it was a 1/4" nut...

Indeed it did Ken. It was setup within an inch of its life by Ross when I got it, so I never used it. Not so for the New Hartford D40 I had for a while.

The GAD's do not have a truss rod cover (TRC) So I'll ASSume they are adjusted from inside the sound hole

On the other hand, my (Tacoma) D55 came with an owners manual and fancier case keys, but not adjustment tool. Seems to me I have had to use a kind of deep 1/4" socket on my D55 ...

Same for the Tacoma D-55 I had. A 1/4-inch nut. Did not come with a tool, so I bought a 1/4-inch nut driver for it.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get these up...

Not as brand-significant as Sandy's, but this is the tool that came with my GAD

As best I could, if you peek under the sound hole you will see the Allen screw that
adjusts the relief on the neck. In Guild's never ending commitment to detail, yes the
doubled-up wood surrounding the sound hole is radius'd out nicely above the Allen screw :D

That's pretty cool, Bill!

Somewhere around here I have a brake bleeder wrench that I used for a trussrod tool. It had fairly thin walls and did the job very well.

I know this is an older thread, but now you have me wondering about the truss rod tool I will need to adjust my Tacoma F412. I haven't removed the truss rod cover to check it yet. All I do know is that supposedly the neck on mine has the one dual action truss rod, with the two graphite reinforcement rods, instead of the vintage dual truss rod system.

As I recall, my Tacoma F-512 had two truss rods requiring a 1/4" nut adjustment tool. Been a few years though... Another one I wish I had back...

Scratch,
My understanding is that some time in 2008, Tacoma switched to the single truss rod system with the graphite reinforcement. Mine was built in May of that year, according to the serial number, and the dealer claims it is the single system as well. The only way for me to verify it is to take the truss rod cover off when I get home tonight. If it is 1/4" nut, I do have a Rickenbacker truss rod tool that might fit it. if it requires an allen wrench, I wonder what size???

Well, I asked Guild on their website what truss rod tool I would need for my Tacoma F412, and they replied that it would take a 4mm hex wrench. I'm glad I removed the cover myself and checked before I bought the wrench. My truss rod had a 1/4" nut on it, NOT a 4 mm hex top. My 1/4" Rickenbacker socket wrench fit it perfectly. A slight turn, and it was just right. I am disappointed in Guild for giving me incorrect information, even after I gave them the model year and serial number of my F412.
