I've been contemplating a repair. Where does one get mahogany toothpicks??
I buy stocks of mahogany and make what I need. In this case ,I wanted something to fill the holes,so I shaved some toothpick sized edge pieces.

D25 guitars routinely have Grover tuners as a user upgrade, as far as I know. I've seen countless used ads over the years where the seller states the original Guild tuners are inferior. Just an excuse?
The earlier three on a plate tuners are the disliked ones, why I don't know. The plate tuners on my 70 D35 are fine. They are typical Made in Japan 70s product. People just want silky smooth I guess. I'd much rather have the open back's weight savings.

The gotoh s are open back, just not 3 on a plate.

I made mine from a piece of mahogany I have in my shop. I don't like to just fill original holes with glue. Buy a thin sheet or a piece of mahogany and just shave some toothpick sized strips. Or not.

I have a slab of mahogany here, but doubt I'd have the desire or patience to slice a piece off and make my own toothpicks. But thanks for the advice! I thought there'd be somewhere easy where I'd just order some. (y)

I think they are shaller m6. From what I read they seems to be good. To me, they reminded me of cheap replacement tuners you buy at the guitar store... ;)
While I definitely have preferences, these are the only tuning machines made in the last 50 years that I would consider unusable.
