mbuc, Hans has told us before that employees did have pet projects during the Westerly years.

Having a picture of this guitar and actually finding it for sale are two different things. I think the restriction(s) on the employees were that the guitars couldn't exist as far as the public is concerned (i.e., not show up for sale). That said, I can't see what would stop someone for offering it up some day with full disclosure -- you can't keep covenants on people not to sell their property. Technically, Guild could enforce a copyright to prevent such a thing, but in reality no way.

THus, I presume there are other "pet projects" out there besides this.

Yes, we discussed a few examples here, like this one from the former Fender Nashville VP, built in 2009.

Also I remember there was that strange one (I think it was a one pickup Bluesbird) build from various Guild parts where Hans also said it is not a proper Guild.

" I don't think that Bob Benedetto would take credit for it!"

Take blame you mean! Batman f-holes is a perfect description.

One-offs are great, but sometimes deserve to remain one-offs!

Hello chazmo,

That info didn't come from me although I did comment several times on 'project guitars' that were assembled or put together outside the Guild factory from leftover Guild parts. There's a bunch of those floating around!

Sincerely,
