**** hey everybody. last call for this one. if no one's interested here, it's off to the 'bay - sans HB1s. let me know thanks!****

Hey everybody. I've had this machine for a couple of weeks now, and as nice as it is, I think I'm going to hold out for a stop tail S100. So, before I do anything rash like pull the HB1s for the three pickup mongoloid project I'm working on, I thought I'd offer it up here first (I'll post it in the classified too in a second) to try to keep it intact. No profit motive here, you get it for what I paid: $700 shipping/insurance included. It comes with a beater non original case. Hit me with any questions you've got.

Howdy friends. Was looking for a stop tail S100 to compliment my Deluxe when I stumbled across this one and couldn't resist. Looks like an early '76 S90. It's pretty clean and mostly original. Except for the tuners; I'm pretty sure they're replacements. Any idea what kind they are? Never seen the like before. And is the S90 basically an S100 w/out the inlays and vol/tone controls? I'm hoping so because I haven't put down my Deluxe since I got it a couple of months ago. Seriously...

Re: S90 on the way...

I just picked one up a few weeks beack. It's certainly not replacing my S-100, but it's still a great guitar. If it's a nicee one, you'll love it!
Was this an eBay score?

They are original tuners. And, yes...the S-90 is basically the S-100 without the bling. No neck binding, no second set of controls, no block inlays, no inlaid headstock logo and, while I have never had one to examine, I am guessing due to the larger pickguard, more top routing making it cheaper to build. It's basically what the Gibson SG Special is to the SG Standard, if that helps. I hope to stumble upon one someday, preferably a nice black one...cuz, well, I certainly need more guitars! HNGD!

I have a nice black one. I'll trade you it for a certain green guitar?

Re: S90 on the way...

as always, you guys rule. thanks for the info. looks like it's all original. that's a nice bonus. i'll see how the tuners work when the guitar arrives in a couple of days. i'll probably just keep them if they work okay. any suggestions though, if they need replacing? and beef, it was a pawn shop score...

Re: S90 on the way...

I've had both, the S-100 and S-90. Hammer pretty well covered the differences. There are no pickup rings on the S-90, I should mention. They do look like the stock tuners. (On mine, they're the only thing I will someday change ... holds tune well, but too stiif, too much slip from worn gears.)

Actually, I've had two S-90s. The current one is a little lighter than both the other S-90 and my S-100. For some reason it feels rather different to me than the S-100. About as stripped down and simple a guitar as you could imagine, light in the hands. With sound way out of proportion to its physical presence.

Good luck with that guitar. Not many around, and they're really nice!

Re: S90 on the way...

hey all. just finished cleaning and setting up the newly arrived s90. other than a couple of body mangles, it' s in very good shape. it does feel a little different than my deluxe but has the same bloom and growl that grabbed me the first time around. i do miss the phase switch though; it offers some interesting options especially in the distortion/overdrive realm that the s90 lacks. the d and g tuners are a little spongy; may have to replace the tuners. any suggestions? overall, it's a worthy addition. stay tuned for further information. over.
