I've just got my D-20 back from being set up and what was an already great guitar is now even better. I'm looking forward to gigging it as soon as I get the chance.

When I've gigged previously, I've switched between 6 and 12 string acoustics depending upon the song; my current 12 is an all-mahogany Larrivee, which is a very nice instrument, but my currently enjoyment of the D-20 made me wonder why Guild hasn't made an all-mahogany 12 string (which I'm assuming they haven't but please let me know if I'm wrong!). The Martin J-15 12-string was another great guitar but long since out of production and difficult to find for sale.

I'm aware that there is the D-1212 but as good as the import ranges are, the US made models have that extra something in tone. I also appreciate that 12-strings are comparatively niche but if anyone makes a good 12 it's Guild!

I should reiterate that I'm very fond of the Larrivee and Jean knows his way around mahogany probably better than anyone but given how good the D-20 is I'd love to be able to make the comparison.

GuildedBilly. Welcome aboard.

Can we see some pictures of your guitar? I'm not familiar with that model and would like to see it (especially a shot of the label).

I can't wholeheartedly recommend any of the Westerly series guitars anymore, but good luck if you go that route. All I can say is that there are a whole bunch of wonderful US-built Guild 12ers to keep your world rocking!

I have the GAD series all-Mahogany 12-string: D125-12. Really sweet sounding guitar. Not as sonorous as my JF4-12, but few things are when compared to that behemoth.

When they come up for sale, they're pretty reasonable - here's recent Reverb transaction history:
