I've just got my D-20 back from being set up and what was an already great guitar is now even better. I'm looking forward to gigging it as soon as I get the chance.
When I've gigged previously, I've switched between 6 and 12 string acoustics depending upon the song; my current 12 is an all-mahogany Larrivee, which is a very nice instrument, but my currently enjoyment of the D-20 made me wonder why Guild hasn't made an all-mahogany 12 string (which I'm assuming they haven't but please let me know if I'm wrong!). The Martin J-15 12-string was another great guitar but long since out of production and difficult to find for sale.
I'm aware that there is the D-1212 but as good as the import ranges are, the US made models have that extra something in tone. I also appreciate that 12-strings are comparatively niche but if anyone makes a good 12 it's Guild!
I should reiterate that I'm very fond of the Larrivee and Jean knows his way around mahogany probably better than anyone but given how good the D-20 is I'd love to be able to make the comparison.
