I think it's less than that Jim, $1500 IIRC. I don't worry about that anymore with the Heritage Insurance that I have on the herd. If you buy and sell enough, it pays for itself with the ($250 deductible) shipping insurance that's included with the policy.
I can't say enough good things about them, and I'm not usually much of an insurance fan.
My vague memory (from occasionally arranging freight for some paper sales) is that was a UPS limit unless additional value was declared/purchased.
Priority Mail is great for smaller parcels, but when you get to dimensional weight size boxes like guitars, it can be as much as double what FedEx and UPS Ground charges.
Nah, in the instance I'm referring to, I'd asked for additional coverage, was willing to pay for it, and was told there was no additional coverage available. Someone above said it had been $1500, and they could be correct. But it was definitely USPS. I can't remember if there was a limit on musical instruments and that was the reason, I think it might have been. Again, my memory isn't what it once was.
No, that rings true, although I only used the post office at Christmas for packages. But as it percolated through memory I recalled looking up what was covered under "registered" and parcel post, or what I'd have to do if I needed more coverage, but it never was necessary.
That's what the Postmaster General is aiming at: competing with the private package delivery companies. A nice idea, but the downside is that money has been pulled away from regular first-class service.
