My how times have changed since 1966. That's one gigantic video recorder!

2” open reel video was some expensive stuff back then! That editor likely equaled the cost of 3-4 single family homes! (And should come w/ the woman!!) My guess is the ad infers to “this will get you to an Oscar gala. I don’t find it “sexual”, more Hollywood fancy dress.

Midnight Toker,
We don't live in Los Angeles, but The Lovely Missus RBSinTo dresses that way on a regular basis.
It's the "June Cleaver on Steroids" look.

I don't think that's and editor - just a VTR: Video Tape recorder.

Crank,
Isn't that unit directly above the two tape reels a microwave oven?
Made sense, as editing would make you really hungry.
Which would mean that this was the Deluxe VTR.

lol.

I forgot what it is called but it shows you the levels of white, black, etc. sort of like a waveform monitor but for video levels. There were, maybe still are, regulations about how bright and how black the video could be for broadcast. I don't think anyone pays attention to that anymore.

I worked as a producer/director starting in the days when there were still a few old 2" machines laying around unused in hallways. I could thread and adjust levels on a 1" VTR but I was a creative working with video engineers so mostly I just got to tell them what to do.
