...what is the difference between the Guild M75 (vintage) and the LP,
50's Guild M-75 Aristocrat, a look into the hollow body though the removed output jack socket and with removed pickups (hence the light in it).
It has a solid Honduras Mahogany back, laminated Honduras Mahogany sides and the spruce top is laminated (not solid as many seller claim). Basically like a very small body Archtop guitar.

Only two big parallel braces where the Franz pickups are mounted on:

Vs. a solid body Gibson Les Paul (solid bookmatched maple cap on solid mahogany):

While Ralf's photo shows traditional Les Paul construction, they've been constructed a number of ways over the years. "Custom/Classic" is they way most Les Pauls from mid 80's through around 2005 have been made. Nine holes specifically located to not change the sound significantly. The others are not like the Aristocrat either, but more like maple top Nightbird/Bluesbird construction. Notably, however, they are not hollow under the bridge area like a Nightbird.

Love the little "scarf out" of wood to accommodate the pickups on the Guild Aristocrat!
Yes, simple way to gain space for the wires. Also they didn't use 4 screws to mount the pickup, but just two. Only two holes in the braces.

Yes, Keith Richards used that heavily-modified Guild M-65 Freshman quite often in 1966
I'm curious what Guild's reaction was to that huge opportunity? You would think they would have sent Keith Richards a bunch of their best electric guitars for free.

Well the time is 1966 and IIRC that was the time Mark Dronge was trying, with not much success, to convince his dad that there was a market for electrics that could be tapped into with endorsements. I am going from memory here but if I had to find proof I'd start from threads about the 12 string Starfire that was given to a Beatle and how the decision to do so was made.

I think the only company that gave Keith Richards and Brian Jones guitars for free for promotional purposes in the 1960s was Gibson, and both guys can therefore be seen using quite a few electric & acoustic Gibsons that they seem to have received between 1965 and 1968;

there's another on page 165 of Hans' book (different bridge and tailpiece). So there are at least 2. So cool!
Is it a M75 or 65?

I sent him a photo. He thought the tail piece and tuners may have been changed as they are normally gold, but mentioned he has seen one with these. Next time i change strings i will take it off and see, but the spot where they are looks untouched , perhaps it was ordered this way from guild and the buyer wanted to save money? Or they were replaced sometime ago, it doesnt effect the sound or playability, would be cool to know the origins, but it doesnt keep me up at night.

i would like to see that book some day.

I'm pretty sure Vox gave them a bunch of gear too. Brian and Bill used some of it. I don't think Keith was very interested.

Good catch. But it is indeed a second one in the book (single pickup M-75) as also the volume and tone knobs are at a slightly different position, more towards the middle. (just draw a line connecting both and see where it ends up on the cutaway).
