If Vox and Fender go together, what does Guild go with?

I agree and it might also have gone with re-badged Binson had the relationship between Guild and Signor Bini gone any further..

Cool Italian tube amps - a friend in Milan owns three (and three Echorec!) and once let me have one while I was there during summer.

This is the only one in the US currently on Reverb. If I'm not wrong my Milanese friend owns one just like it in very good condition, but the one I borrowed was a later Hi-Fi model.

So, how much is a Guinea?
A Guinea was £1,1s, one pound and one shilling, equivalent to £1.05 in modern currency. This was at a time when there were 20 shillings, or 240 pence, in a pound. I had to look this up, but if I had been a little older (probably just a year or two) I would have known this! 😁
Pre-decimal currency seems crazy to me!

I have a friend from Yorkshire who is a year or two older than me and he said he had to learn the old system one year in school even though they had already gone to the decimal system.

I vaguely remember that from my first trips to Britain in the 70s, but quite frankly thought Guineas was a reference to the Binson gear being made in Italy..

Decimalisation was in 1971, but a lot of the old coins remained in use for many years as did the common use of a lot of pre-decimal terms. The Guinea is still used in bidding for racehorses.
