Hi guys. I’m trying to purchase this 12 string from an individual on Reverb but I can’t confirm what model it is. The label reads “D225ao6”. The owner won’t confirm the model number so I’m starting to get cold feet. I am looking for a D-2512 or D-212. Is this either of those models? The serial number is d250256. Any help would be appreciated.

This is a US (Westerly, RI) made model, the D225 is the internal factory number and the A06 is the top finish number. At that time it happened a lot that they wrongly wrote the internal factory numbers on the labels instead of the official model number.
The correct model number is "D-25-12" and the serial number is a guitar from 1987. The D-212 model name was changed during 1987 to D-25-12 as also visible in the 1987 price list:

As another example, here is an export model (blue label) with "A11" finish/color. 6 numbers later they simply called her "D25" instead of "D-25-12"...Different person wrote the label...

Thank you very much Ralf. Is there any chance that anyone has had any experience buying from this seller on Reverb? His store is called Michael’s Collection Rock Spring Georgia. I’m hoping this is a legit sale and a good instrument.

He only has 2 Feedbacks as seller, so no, no LTG trades so far.

He mainly bought stuff as it looks.

I don't see the guitar listed there?

Thank you. The guitar may not be showing up because he accepted my bid for $1200 today. Now I’m wondering if I should go through with it. I’ve been happy with my purchases from LTG members but he isn’t one.

If I understand Reverb's rules, if you made an offer and the seller accepted it, you're obliged to go with through with the purchase.

I don't think you have much to worry about. Reverb's business model provides protection to buyer and seller.

I never gotten taken on reverb we’re going be seller ended up getting away with it and even then it’s pretty rare. eBay however makes some boneheaded calls in disputes

From what I can gather, that label code doesn't seem to match the standard Martin model numbers. It's possible it's a custom or a limited edition, or maybe there's a typo on the label. I'd be cautious if the seller can't confirm the model. Maybe ask for more detailed pics or try reaching out to Martin Guitars directly with the serial number for some clarity.
I have a feeling you might be at the wrong forum here...
Otherwise, have you read post #2 at all?
