I’ve been playing this one today. It’s a 1940ish Favilla I found at Guitar Center, of all places. It’s ladder braced and the lower bout is slightly smaller than a J-45.

Sounds great, Dave!

You sure don't see many of these, Dave. I have a Favilla C-5 classical (c. 1960) that is one of my heirloom guitars. Was my mom's and I learned how to play on it in the 1970s. That'll come out into the rotation in a few days. :)

Thanks. Having looked around the web, I haven't found one exactly like this one (slope shouldered). I believe it was before they actually started naming the models. There aren't any markings except for the headstock logo. I bought the "Favilla Familia" e-book written by the great grandson about the company and there wasn't a whole lot of info from this period. If I was more into classicals and/or ukes, a vintage Favilla is where I'd look. Still very affordable for a high quality instrument.

Fun fact: Hercules Favilla (son of the founder) is credited by many as the inventor of the baritone ukulele.

wow! great playing Dave. That guitar sounds a lot like a J45 too. Very "woody" sounding, just real warm and vintagey. That is always the sound I am seeking but have yet to find it. Nice score!

Thanks. It's very much the type of sound I gravitate to also. It's extremely dry with not much in the way of overtones, likely due to the ladder bracing but that's what I like about it.

Hey F30, I like the lamp in your picture of your D140. The whole Frank Lloyd Wright / Stickley / leaded glass era is my favorite time period. I've got Tiffany style lamps and shades throughout my house as well as Stickley quarter sawn oak furniture, copies of course. Originals are too difficult to find.
Back to the thread topic, sorry!

Hey man, don't apologize for the veer, especially if it takes us into other interesting territory. Walt, why not start a thread (in miscellaneous) about your favorite furniture! I'd love to know what you're talking about. Personally, not much of a fan of Tiffany-style lamps myself, but love to talk about that stuff.

Is TRC a J B?
J.D. (first two initials) Shelby. Our member "Coastie" sent that to me as a gift. I miss that guy. 😊 That TRC WAS on your DV73 before I sent it to you. I didn't think it would make much sense to send that with the guitar. :ROFLMAO:

West, what a gorgeous DV73. The Turquoise accents always blow me away.o_O
I still don't know the differences between the DV72, DV73 and the DV74. Since you have all three would you please elaborate? My curiosity is getting the best of me because I've asked myself exactly that every time I see one of them!
