The Goon Show was an extremely popular and influential radio show. A big influence on Monty Python, The Beatles and much of the British comedy that has followed them. They were Spike Milligan (the main writer), Peter Sellers, Harry Secombe and Michael Bentine (first two series only). One of their best known songs was this delightful piece of nonsense, The Ying Tong Song. Harry Secombe speaks his lines on this and the other Goons songs he performed on during the 1950's, due to his being contracted to another label as a singer.

Absolutely a big influence on the Beatles, who often spoke of their love for The Goons.

Here's the 1966 Christmas Fan Club record. Very Goon-ish, as are all of the Beatles Christmas records.
