I had a GAD30PCE and it was a very nice guitar...spruce top, padauk back and sides, bone nut and saddle, Grover tuners and Fishman undersaddle p/u. About $1500 new, list price, believe street price was $900 new plus or minus...

Well, $700 used now probably isn't exactly a bargain. I like the looks of that guitar tho because it compliments the D40C I have. Different body model and different nut width -- same sunburst and a cutaway...

Trying to figure out the nomenclature, GC lists it as:

GAD-30PCEITB -- what are all of those letters? C - Cutaway. E - Electric. But the rest? I'm guessing TB is tobacco burst. Not sure of the rest. Any guesses?

Also, if I can ask, why'd you get rid of it?

PCEITB sounds like a line from a doctor's eye test chart, but it probably means:

Padouk
Cutaway
Electronics
Ice Tea Burst

There are many fine Westerly, Tacoma, and New Hartford Guilds that become available for approx $1000 or less.

Personally, I would pass on the Chinese-built Guilds, and see what becomes available in the next few months.

Example re my above post: A currently listed Westerly Guild D4-HR, in great condition, for $499.

Go for the real thing!

P=Padouk body, "ITB"= "Iced Tea Burst"
Oh I see Geoguy already nailed it, but I still say:

CV-1 = Sitka top , rosewood back and sides
Cv-2 = Adirondack top, maple back and sides

CO-1 Cedar top , Mahogany back and sides
CO-2 Adirondack top , Mahogany back and sides

Cv-2 and Co-2 sport Ebony bridge and fingerboards

The Cv-1 and Co-1 sport Madagascar rosewood fingerboard and bridge .

Some other upgrades on hardware but the wood is the important stuff lol .

Neck tricky ? It all depends on the guitars over all condition , is it just the neck or is the body messed up ? If both that’s the tricky part lol but I found it easy enough to rectify .

You, sir, have officially become the resident expert on the Contemporary series.
I don't think I ever noticed the maple body on CV-2 even when I checked my Tacoma price list within the last couple of weeks.
No more quizzes for you!
I'm so glad I taught you everything I know...... :glee:
Oh, waitaminnit, final exam:
What were the top choices and body size on the 3rd Contemporary Series model?

The gad30pce has a nice slim neck...think 60's strat or tele, 1 3/4" nut width, nice string separation at the bridge. Two things were against it...I bought her after a good few hours playing her in the store, but she wasn't the D55 I wound up buying about ten days later! I found the p/u to sound a little "brittle," but never played her through a proper acoustic guitar amp. Nice fingerstyle piece, perfect for sofa or edge of bed...but to my ear just not a dreadnaught.

Passed her on to my brother who absolutely loves her, actually better than his Mxxxxx D28!

That link does NOT look like a CV-1 !
OK after the d--n thing took 5 minutes to load, I can finally see it, and yes it's an MIC M20, BUT:.

The pick guard is not a Guild shape.
Actually Guild did use that Martin-esque "teardrop" shape on early F20's and M20's, so it's an accurate historic homage.

yep, it wuz dread.
If this ad is to be believed, they only ever made 9 of the CD-2 maple flatback red-spruce-topped version:
https://reverb.com/item/2236450-guild-cd-2-iced-tea-burst

Sitka and rosewood for the CD-1 but I don't think I've ever seen a production number for 'em.

It's nice to have a Guitar Center card, but you'll still have it if you buy this guitar elsewhere.

None of those three impressed me.

I'd at least go to Reverb.com and stick "Guild" in the search field. You're bound to find a nice Westerly or Hoboken there, and most sellers there are willing to negotiate considerably.

PS: NOT "Westerly Collection"! Get a twentieth century Westerly.
