Thats true, and another aspect bears out- the shops that own these guitars for sale are usually not willing to hand anyone a sweetheart of a deal to sell them. But seriously, Collings, Bourgeois, and Santa Cruz all cost more
The higher end Martin's appear to offer better hand workmanship. Often there is more bling on the more expensive Martins. Its all a matter of if that amount of embellishment is nice looking enough for a potential buyer. In my opinion its mostly yes, I think its worth more to get the aesthetics that I like on the guitar.what makes a supposedly "high end" Martin, Taylor, Guild, etc. worth 2, 3, 4, or 5 grand?
If a person gets accustomed to a particular guitar manufacturer's production standards, they may not like the feel of another brand of guitar. I particularly like Guild due to their fret radius and neck width. I have a problem with the outside 2 strings "slipping" off the fretboard on some guitars. That doesn't happen on my Guild guitars. So is this an issue of my hand positioning? Probably so. In either case, I've gone with what naturally works the best for me.
