first one is a 80s Pilot SB-605, wit passive PUPS, maybe not original.
Grots one is a 94/95 Pilot Pro 5 with active EMG's and a BTC.
Pretty sure it is a passive configuration. Most active pickups don't have pole pieces, I think. Don't quote meBowdren's article says the SB-605 came with active EMGs in a J J configuration. It also notes that gold hardware was an option on several models.
I'm not going to have a strong opinion about active vs. passive or factory vs. modified on the basis of one picture
Well, the 605 came with emg‘s that were active and had no pole pieces visible or with passive pups that also had no pole pieces. Idk if the dimarzio option was there too, but there have not been active pups with pole pieces back then.Bowdren's article says the SB-605 came with active EMGs in a J J configuration.
