Hello...

This might be one for Mr. Moust - I just got a D-25 with the serial number OG-452 with a Hoboken label and the small pickguard typical of an early D-25 but the serial numbers on the Guild website for 1969 go to OG 233...any idea when this guitar was made (1970?)? I would love to know.

Many, Many Thanks.

oh man - it has got some ways to go...the seller sent the poor thing wrapped in carpet foam. CARPET FOAM! It was a gigantic box of carpet foam due to there being no case. NO CASE? I didn't realize he was sending it with no case (you got to ask those questions). SO...it went ground shipping, no case, wrapped in carpet foam...I winced when I opened the poor thing. Had I known I would've paid the extra money for him to buy a case and ship 3-day...arrgh. You can see on the sides of the neck where it got super hot and the finish started to melt/orange peel (prolly due to sitting in a hot truck for a week drowned in carpet foam)...ARRRRGH! But with a little super fine sanding -things are starting to look up.

On another note - it has a metal TRC and the faceplate looks to be a brazilian RW veneer....

Well, I'm settling in with a cup of hot coffee and a smoke. Please continue this story! :)

I double-checked; it's not April Fools.... This is really a true story? ARRRGH is right! That's grounds for knee-capping the seller. Keep us posted. If your guitar really got that hot, you should probably have it looked at by a luthier. Hide glue (and other things) don't hold up well to extreme temperatures. Sigh.

Just got the email from Mr. Moust - looks like we're correct, 1970 it is...will post pics once repairs have been made...she's going to the favorite luthier of mine - he's worked miracles in the past, I'm not tooooo worried. Might be a while though, I believe there will be a neck reset involved. :?

Best wishes, wisconsin.... You'll get back a fabulous player from Guild's heyday! Can't wait to see the results. But, if you please, take some pictures of the "before" scenario... I'm astonished and horrified that a classic Guild would be treated this way by the seller. :(

Yes please.

I agree. It would be interesting to see how your 1970 looked in "as arrived" condition.
