I am almost done with the restoration of this 71 Mav Bass. it was funky, but the bones were good. All new tubes, an Eminence 15" bass speaker, and new hardware all around. I suck at applying tolex so don't be too harsh. Getting ready to fire her up!

the hardest part of this whole effort was sanding the old funk off of the wood to get it down to clear, clean wood. I don't think I'll do this again :)

Looks nice. Is there a better option than the 7591 tubes these came with? Also, what Eminence speaker did you use?

i couldn't find any alternatives to the 7591s - but I bought a new set of TungSols anyway. I did change up the preamp section tho - I put a 12AY7 in position 1 instead of the 12ax7 to get more clean headroom as I am actually using this for bass. I put a lower gain ECC82 in position 2, and left the third tube as it came stock. For a speaker, I got the Eminence Alpha-15A 200w. It was the lowest wattage 15" speaker I could find.

I just cranked it up and it sounds really nice - and it doesn't break up as fast as it did before. I'm totally vibing with it.
