Ah, thanks, that answers my question. I had forgotten about that thread.

Not very subdued or tasteful, not too practical case-wise, doesn't help D or G string tuning, but I like it a lot!

Now all it needs is double pickguards! (ducks...)

Made by Guild in 1982 (hence the AA-82) for the Japanese market only.

Ah, yes. The Japanese market.

Distributors will approach a manufacturer and ask for special things.

I once had a conversation with Jean Larrivee, whom I have met two or three times but cannot claim any acquaintance with. He told me that a Japanese distributor asked him to make ukuleles. He said the he definitely didn't make ukuleles. They told him how much money they were going to pay him for a Larrivee-branded ukulele. He smiled and said that, yes, he made ukuleles and damn fine ukuleles at that. Good luck finding a Larrivee uke in North America. I have never seen any except ones being constructed in his factory.

Lovely looking jumbo!

Walter, a little confused about your comment... It's an F-50R with the AA crown. Are you referring to the crown (not being practical or subdued, that is)?

As for the dual PGs, yeah, I think John may have played a version of this guitar with two PGs at some point, but I certainly prefer it with one. :)

What are the specs on the AA-82. I’m guessing it’s a 17” or 18” lower bout. But what about the scale length? 25 1/2” or is it longer than standard?

The specs that Ralf posted earlier seem to show a 17" lower bout, and 25.5/8" scale.

Anyway old japanese business motto was simple one thing. Prepare money as much as possible then start negotiation. especially late 70s to early 90s😂

In auctions in Japan they show up from time to time, claiming to be as old as 1999 in some cases.
Actually he now has Ukuleles posted on the webpage.

There is one for sale in Germany currently:

Here was a review of one of the models. They look very nice:
