Can anyone tell me definitively what the inlays on my 1997 S-100 are made of?

Are they Mother of Pearl?
Cellulose? (I doubt it)
Pearloid?
Plastic scraped from road signs? :)

The NS site says that those are Pearloid, which I readily accept. The 1997 inlays look MUCH nicer, though, so I'm wondering if they're different.

Thanks.

I have to wonder why you're asking, but on your USA Guild from 1997 I'm gonna guess it's actual MOP, which is pretty sturdy. The NS models I have no idea. But you're asking.... WHY??

I investigated this when I was importing some S-100s. From a letter from the Fender rep:

"Upon further research into the actual bill of materials from the Guild S100 that was manufactured from 1994-2001 what was stated in a spec sheet as Mother of Pearl is actually a material called Polypearl which is a plastic intended to look like Mother of Pearl.

I have included the part information from the materials sheet below.

HAAAA HAAAA!! Fair enough. Someone was stripping some finish off a fretboard once and I can't remember who. But that's pretty specific info from Zelja!! Good info to know!! This place is awesome! :encouragement:
