LTG,

So many of you, so I see, have named your guitars. It sounds like a very personal thing to do and I suppose just any name won't do. I was told that I should only consider 'Girl' Names for my guitars as I would not want to be caught 'hugging' a guitar named 'BOB".

Anyway, as most of you know, I have two Guild Acoustic Guitars: a 1975 Guild D-35 and a 1967 Guild F212.

I have chosen the name: 'Olivia' for my D35.

Olivia, pronounced /o??l?vi?/ is a popular feminine given name in the English language. It is a Latinate name derived, first coined by William Shakespeare for a character in the Twelfth Night. It is possible that Shakespeare may have intended this name as a feminine form of Oliver; another possibility is that he may have derived it from a the Latin oliva, which translates into English as "olive".

I have chosen the name: "Zoe" for my F212.

Zoe is a Greek name- it translates as 'life'

So, there ya go....."Olivia" and "Zoe" !!!

I'm with Tom on this one.
You start giving things names and then you get rid of them....

And yes, great pics!

Joe

**Katrina came from littlesongs with her name, so I'll honor that one. Of course, she also arrived as a 12-string.....

Gotta admit, it DO take a certain mind set to hug a guitar named "Richie", but I've learned to deal with it. After all, it came that way from Guild, and changing their names willy-nilly can be kind of traumatic on the poor things..
Your guitars have very pretty names. :D

Might we infer, then, that giving them names implies a certain...commitment? :D

I don't name guitars. They have names and the better you get to know your guitar, the more likely it is that the guitar will tell you its name.

I'm totally committed to my two guitars. I love them both for different reasons. The Guild I refer to as "the big blonde" or "my Guild". The Washburn is just that....."the Washburn". It works for me.

Adopted a cat that came with this house I bought two years ago here in Vegas. I named her Ralphie. Someone left her behind. A really sweet cat. So she got her leg messed up from a fight and had to go to the vet....she's chipped.... and a HE to boot!! So now he's Ralph. Just goes to show you.... names can change.

I don't name my guitars. Anybody that knows me from this forum has heard me rail about refering to guitars as "she". Guitars are not male or female! Otherwise I would have a lot more then 101!
