Hello Everyone,
I got my DV52 back from my Luthier yesterday. It's the one that I got from BlakeB back in October. It went to the Luthier because after restringing it, recommended by Blake, There was an issue with the high E string being only ..008 from the first fret wire and the B was only .012, which did not seem to exist prior to the restringing. He filled and reformed the B and E string slots in the nut.. Needless to say there was lots of string buzzing when they were not compressed. There was also an issue with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd fret wires being notched and for a Cowboy chord player they needed to be dressed and reshaped. I also had a new saddle installed, one that is compensated.
It plays like a new instrument. The string height is perfect through the 12 fret, perfect 1/2 inch at the saddle and the bridge top is perfectly in line with the frets using a straight edge, as recommended. He did not touch the bridge height, I asked, and it's 5/16 above the soundboard. The whole thing cost me $165 and I couldn't be happier.
I found out when I first met him that he has been to Luthier School for two different levels of work, served an apprenticeship for a year. He is the same person that did multiple soundboard crack repairs on my Gibson Nick Lucas which came out great, very stable and sounds great.
So here a 3 pic of the DV52. Very nice guitar, Thank You Blake. There is some chaffing on the back but not through the finish and it is going to become my daily player. That will save my D66 and Martin D42.
