I've had terrible luck with MII guitars lately, a white Stafire I that I got was plagued by horrible QC issues.. But I kept that one because it only cost me $371 (new). Ironically, my *older* MII guitars (late 90's Epi LP Special II, Takamine G240) were / are fine. No more sight-unseen mail order guitars for me now!

Can someone put a camera into a recent SF1, please. I hate to think Guilds are hitting the street with egregious build disasters like this.

GAD's review has some internal pix.

Thanks for pointing me at GAD's review, GG, but I don't see any pictures that would clarify whether or not they did anything outrageous like we're seeing on the Epiphone...

The f-holes are slim, so not really easy to slide a camera in. I thought I had pics from before, but can't find them (will look a bit later).

This is the only angle I could get through the f-hole...

Seems a bit cleaner inside than the Epi...

To close off this thread, I should note that I have been able to play with the guitar a bit more since my initial posting and feel that I've been able to get some usable tones from the NY-style pickups. They're very percussive, not unlike a DeArmond, with a bit of humbucker smoothness added in for good measure. In the end, if you're looking for a straight up 40's / 50's Jazz sound, you might give it a try and see if this guitar suits.

Ultimately, I decided that it still wasn't a $1400 guitar (in my mind) so returned it today.
