Guild announced today on Instagram. Already seen a couple “open box” on All Used Guitars for $750. I like the looks of these, very tempting.

I have no problem with my MIK Starfire 4. That's a big + in my book!

I don't really see what the attraction is.

Mostly, I see it as a step in the right direction... toward a black Aristocrat with nickel hardware, DeArmonds, and a properly mounted Guild Bigsby. That, I would have a hard time not jumping on (even if I know I'm going to swap the pickups for TVJ or Duncans).

Interesting that there is a black pickup cover on the black one. I was thinking Guild traditionally used white covers - like the cherry model ?

Not that it matters.

I think they mostly do, you’re right, although I could think of one recent guitar that used black and gold ones, the SFII from a few years back, and then further back than that fender chose to use the black and silver versions on some DeArmond guitars like the M-75t.

To those of us with irrational attachments to previous Geologic ages, DynaSonics are kinda nifty anachronisms.
I prefer P-90’s generally (like the Franz units on my [now discontinued] MIK X-175), shown in my avatar.
I really liked the DynaSonics on my Gretsch 6120DSW of a few years ago, but prefer the more traditional build quality of the spruce topped hollowbody X-175 (without a stack of wood under the bridge inside).
More choices isn’t a bad thing, especially in the price bracket.

I’m very happy with my present version, but I like Guild’s direction here.

Also the 2020 (?) X-175 Manhattan Dynasonic:

Those pickups are a standard offering from DeArmond and all 4 versions were in the Guild shop (which is still reworked currently).

I have a 61 Starfire with DeArmonds, three vintage deep-body Guilds with Franz pickups,....so I'm way ahead of you in the "geologic" department. I just don't see that many practical uses for a thinbody single pickup noncutaway hollowbody - see my post above this one
