I just had a new nut cut for my new D-50 to increase string spacing. I'm very happy with the improved playability, but very distressed over the aesthetic result (see photos below). The work was done by a respected Guild dealer and experienced repairperson (not by some teenage lackie at a big box guitar store). I was unfortunately (and foolishly) in a hurry when I picked the guitar up, so I didn't closely inspect the work. Upon discovery, at home, I was quite upset. The dealer claims that this is nearly unavoidable because Guild glooses over the factory nut with a thick coating.
He (and obviously I) wish that Guild didn't do this...but I'm wondering if anyone else had this problem. Shouldn't an experienced repair person be able to do a better job????

These are the best photos I could get. Note the sloppy scoring on the edges of the nut.
Input is greatly appreciated.
