Kind of a Cindy Lauper before there was a Cindy Lauper.
This is the song that I'll remember her by.
Yup. A hippie version. I love Cindy, too.Kind of a Cindy Lauper before there was a Cindy Lauper.
Maybe not, but impressed that, despite the general age (much older) of the audience, they seemed to be enthusiastic and not at all disapproving. That's an amazing clip.
One thing about it cracks me up: The Edwin Hawkins Singers are clapping the right way, on the second and fourth beats, but the audience is clapping one-two-three-four. All they had to do was clap along with the singers, but no dice.
Not a bunch of rockers, were they?
+1 to everything you said. I'm still tasting the Leftover Wine...Damn. This is so sad. I admit to having a massive boyhood crush on her. I mean, seriously, how could you not? Lay Down was such a powerful song at the time. Beautiful lady. Beautiful voice. Beautiful soul. RIP Melanie.
