"This is a good learning lesson for all of us who have children," Henderson said. "Be extra careful with your kids, take the extra step to make sure they're safe." :

BEAVERTON, Oregon -- Oregon police are searching for a man who stole a car Saturday morning without knowing a child was in the backseat and came back to lecture the mom for leaving her child unattended.

When the suspect saw the child, he returned to the mother and reprimanded her, threatened to call the police on her and then drove away in her car, Beaverton Police Spokesman Officer Matt Henderson told CNN.

"He hopped in the car, drove it, realized there was a 4-year-old inside, and drove back and ordered her to take the child out of the car and then drove away again," Henderson said.

re: ruedi's post: That's cool. It's hard for me to imagine how he does that without being able to use his legs as shock absorbers. I used to ride a lot of cross-country (not downhill like this), and staying seated is really tough on you.

I would like to die peacefully in my sleep . . .
Not screaming in horror like his passengers . .

World Trade Center, New York City, 1979. No safety harness (unless you count the hand hold as a safety harness).

In the old days with ironworkers (and I was around for the tail end of that) it was an ego thing!

Two questions:

How did he get up there? And what is he doing up there with that rope in his hand?

Wait.

That guy's on top of the mast section as it is being placed.

Which means he must have ridden up from the ground!!!
Some guys'll do anything for a free ride.
How did he get up there?
Prob'ly asking himself the same question.

And what is he doing up there with that rope in his hand?
Goin' down to hang his old lady, caught her hangin' round with another man.

Here's a link to a photo of another guy on the WTC antenna crew mooning Manhattan from 1,700 feet.

And here's a link to more photos by the same photographer, Peter Kaplan, who spent 12 days with that crew:

+1.

I have trouble even looking at these photos. I visited NY City about 15 years ago, and did the Empire State Building tour with the family. I simply could not look over the edge without getting dizzy, or as Tom put it, having my a$$ho1e constantly squeaking.

I'm not even comfortable up on my own roof.
