I guess you didn't see my post #7 in this thread with the link to the older thread with just that info...post#12 by a former Guild employee.
I used 1/8” x 3/4” cold forged C1018 bar. That matched my original kickstand. I had them cut it to 11 1/4” and I trimmed it to match my original kickstand. I can measure the length of my original kickstand tomorrow if you would like.@BradHK I wondered if you minded sharing the dimensions of the kick stand, length width and guage of stell that works?
Any help on that would be appreciated! kind Regards Jordan
Hey thanks so much @BradHK yes if possible that would be so helpful! Many thanksI used 1/8” x 3/4” cold forged C1018 bar. That matched my original kickstand. Just measure the cutout on the body you have and you have the exact length, width and depth of the strip of metal to fit in it. It's not science after all. And yes, all dimensions were given in post #7 already.I wondered if you minded sharing the dimensions of the kick stand, length width
LOL yep it sure ain't science but my guitars in the shop atm so I am unable to measure the cutout at this moment, picking it up on Monday. Just wanted to get a head start looking for metal suppliers obv I'll measure my cutout when I have my guitar back.Just measure the cutout on the body you have and you have the exact length, width and depth of the strip of metal to fit in it. Well, that makes sense! Thanks for the clarification!but my guitars in the shop atm so I am unable to measure the cutout at this moment
The hinge has threaded holes that the screws thread into on the kickstand side. The kickstand has non-threaded holes chamfered to allow the head of the screw to sit flush. I also forgot to provide the length of the kickstand. Let me know if you still need this. I can provide pictures of the hinge and such if you need.Hey gang, got my kickstand metal bar however I still need to find a suitable hinge and so far haven't had much luck at home depot / other hardware stores. Anyone know of any places where I could order one?
Also another question, the part of the hinge that attaches to the kickstand, I'm assuming this needs holes with a thread cut into the stand and using machine screws? Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks in advance for any help
Thanks so much @BradHK All good got mine back from a set up and was able to measure the routed strip. Turns out it's 11 1/4"The hinge has threaded holes that the screws thread into on the kickstand side. The kickstand has non-threaded holes chamfered to allow the head of the screw to sit flush. Grew up in Weymouth MA, brother Quent and I got to the Surf when it was the spot.2nd 3 purchase.
1st is a Guild Capri, 2nd a Guild Stratford and third is a Guild Starfire 3. All 3 have gold hardware. In 1963 or 64, I saw the Kingsmen of "Louie Louie" fame at the Surf Ballroom in Nantasket Beach, MA. Mike Mitchel was the guitar player using a Starfire 3 (blew my mind). This was my introduction to the Garage Band genre.
