Oooo I would like to have seen that listingWow. There was an OM-120 recently on eBay being sold by a reseller (maybe MIRC) that had the bridge detached. There was no finish on the bridge footprint if I remember correctly.
Being those are poly finished I think what they needed to do was mask it. It's gotta be harder to remove it after spraying.
That's a glue-to poly lacquer joint. Looks like the poly lacquer bonds to the wood better than NCL, so in this case the glue (Tite-bond not hide glue) let go. Probably got hot, too, and Tite-bond softens up at lower temps than hide glue too.You look at the footprint on the soundboard and I don't see any wood on wood adherence going on. WTF?? That's just awful!! If you have a good wood/wood glue join, it's usually the wood that gives up before the glue.
I almost bought it but it went higher than I was willing to pay. Was in perfect condition otherwise.Oooo I would like to have seen that listing
How much ?I almost bought it but it went higher than I was willing to pay. Was in perfect condition otherwise.
I think around $250-300, something like that. Not a bad price but it wasn’t really a guitar I was looking for so I didn’t go any higher. I only wanted it if I could get it cheap. How much ?
Not sure the point you're making. Finish is finish, wood is wood. This is an Asian built guitar so not Hide Glue I'd say. Your point was???Being those are poly finished I think what they needed to do was mask it. It's gotta be harder to remove it after spraying.

I think you misunderstood him. Al said it is a "glue to poly joint" and Tite-bond softens up at lower temps than hide glue too. Sometimes (or often?) Asian manufacturers also simply used epoxy to glue a bridge to a poly surface. Not sure the point you're making. Finish is finish, wood is wood. This is an Asian built guitar so not Hide Glue I'd say. Yeah 250 would about right . If there’s a next time grab it . I’m a big fan of these models and they have a lot of tone in them .I think around $250-300, something like that. Ralf, are you saying the all these GADs/100s/Westerly series (primarily MIC) acoustics are made like this? With the bridge just glued right to the finished top???? If that's true, I'm still throwing up in my mouth only much, much more puke.I think you misunderstood him. Al said it is a "glue to poly joint" and Tite-bond softens up at lower temps than hide glue too. Sometimes (or often?) Asian manufacturers also simply used epoxy to glue a bridge to a poly surface.
Ralf
I wouldn't say all as I simply don't know, but rosewood bridges glued with CA to the poly top is common in China factories. Actually a rosewood bridge to a poly finish has a strong bond using CA!Ralf, are you saying the all these GADs/100s/Westerly series (primarily MIC) acoustics are made like this? With the bridge just glued right to the finished top????
