Cash sales are usually best, of course. Generally easy. The only downside is you have to meet people.

For the most part I agree with that sentiment. But, I will say, I've met some really fine players, a couple of who have turned out to be legitimate friends, because of face to face sales on CL or wherever.

I've had a few not fun encounters. Luckily, they've been the exception. More often, buyers/sellers are friendly, reasonable people. Some quite interesting, cool folks. I've met some really interesting characters that way.

Folks I've met have swung both ways. Some of the responses I've gotten for mentioning masks and vaxxes have been strange. But I wouldn't know my good buddy Lee if I hadn't sold him a 212 cabinet.

So I've been fortunate in that the Guilds I've purchased of Craigslist (and the Facebook Marketplace S-300) have all been positive experiences. Most of my friends are rather strange, so I have a high tolerance for "interesting" people. My '65 F-212 I acquired a few years ago (in my present avatar) belonged to the seller's husband who'd passed away several years before. Whenever it's been played in one of the band's recordings I send her the song telling her that
Harlan's guitar was used in writing it and each time she's thrilled it's being used again. The S-300 seller was sad that she had to sell it, but she could tell from my reaction to the guitar that I wasn't buying it to flip it which made her feel better. My friends always tell me that whenever I get an instrument or other item, they feel that I was meant to have it, which actually fits in with my life's philosophy.
