Gilded....
Not much for now... I will be here in NJ for a while. I am hoping that world peace breaks out tomorrow! Of course I am not holding my breath. Seriously though, I should be around for a while. I am hoping for at least a couple year break between deployments, but, of course, I serve at the pleasure of the CIC.
Hope all is well with you.
Keep in touch!

On a side note I received a PM and was wondering if anyone could help this person out. Here is what he wrote:
"I have ,what I think is a 1967 guild bluesbird.Hollow body, gold humbuckers, gold grover tuners.I'ts black.I have never seen another like it.The serial is #dd250.I cant find a match. I will tell you the story of this guitar if you want it in your article. I will try to post a pix if I can figure this site out! Thanks in advance..."
I would say DD-250 is a 1969 serial number, have a look in Hans book in the dating chart (which is the only dating chart that is correct for that time). The Guild webpage dating chart (which has known errors) shows for 1967 only DD101 to DD138, so it can't be 1967 anyway.
So it would be a "Bluesbird M-75 DeLuxe". This DeLuxe model with ebony fingerboard and gold hardware is fully described on page 57 of Hans book and appeared first in 1969 and was renamed to M-75G (without DeLuxe) by end of 1970.

No, serial # DD-250 would be too early for a Bluesbird Deluxe. Those came about a year later. It's probably a regular Bluesbird M-75.

Thanks for correction Hans! So is DD-250 1968 in that case or is the 1969 info from page 57 for the DeLuxe no longer correct (as I remember that you said some info in your book was later corrected due to new info which came after the print of it)? Sorry, I am in Asia currently and don't have your book with me to check the dating chart regarding 1968 or 1969.

Hans and Ralph....
Thanks so much for the input. I am sure our friend will appreciate the input. It is one of the wonderful and selfless things we do here and I love it!
It is very cool when we can help out a fellow Guildy!
Still working on my update and look forward to more comments, discussion and great pics/stories of these great guitars.

Parsox....
Please.... i need some more information to list your bird appropriately.... I always endeavor to list the guitar based upon the owners specs. I also try to help when i can with dating etc etc....
Hans seems to monitor (passively at least) this thread and if you ask he is the most likely to be able to date your guitar accurately. That being said, I don't speak for Hans, I can only say that he has been a tremendous help to me and others on the thread/site. BTW that is one incredibly righteous bird and i am in need of more pics and details.....good on you!

Hello Ralf,

No, serial # DD-250 would be 1969 and the introduction year for the Deluxe in my book is 1970 and I believe that's still correct.

Dennis: He lists it as 1973 in his signature now, so I believe that was confirmed by Hans.

The 3-pickup one? That's more like a 1972 model.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

My apologies for the delay in response. I have been PCSing to the West coast and was without Internet for awhile. I can get you more pics, let me know what you want.

Hans

Hey Dennis:

I hope all is well with you. Thanks again for putting this together and helping me when I scored my BB last Spring.

I finally found the Bluesbird I really wanted....
1999 Westerly
AAA in Tobacco Burst
Serial: CL001662

I really wanted this guitar to be my number one electric, and as of today, it is. I gig through a Mesa Express 5/50 and the BB takes pedals like a champ. It's understandable how the masses always assume a Les Paul and it gives me a chance to share the awesome story of Guild. Thanks again Stan. Scott

Smitch,

Looks like we have twins! The Tobacco burst at the bottom of the photo is #CL001666. Maybe they were finished on the same day, or at least in the same week (and maybe by the same guy).

You have to use Photobucket or Imageshack and link to it from there. We don't directly host pics at LTG. Copy the address of the pics and use the insert image button. If you hover the mouse pointer over the buttons in the "post reply" section, the tooltip will indicate what every button does.:monkey:

Hey lostdog. You're right, four numbers off makes them brothers in arms! I trust that you dig yours as much as I do, especially since you have two! I gigged with one of my Epi Sheratons the other night, and totally missed the 'Bird!

fender era bluesbird ?

Hey, completely new to this, just stumbled upon it last night whilst trying to find out more about my current Bluesbird. I believe it is corona built CM00099,so it must be a fender era build ?
I've owned four bluesbirds in total (plus a boat necked Blues 90 ), including this one. the previous three were certainly all westerly era. this is the only one I've kept, purchased second-hand from USA in 2007.ive found the quality to be superb and truthfully better finished than any of the others. The neck is much more 50's round and the heel more Gibson like, with better access IMHO. Anyway, I've always swapped out pickups as ive never liked the SH1's,ive used burstbuckers, rio grandes, bare knuckles & fralins. this one I've just installed British made "the creamery" 59's ,hand wound to my spec with alnico 2 short magnets in the bridge & alnico 4's in the neck (8k bridge/7k neck). the pots have all been replaced with cts and Jensen paper in oil caps. hope someone can enlighten me if this was built in the fender custom shop or not ? thanks .
