Mojo. I'm no expert, but my understanding is that the Fender Custom shop guitars say exactly that on the lower back of the headstock. While the Corona built BB was certainly made under Fender ownership, that doesn't make it Fender Custom Shop. If no one else replies you may want to re-ask your question under it's own topic line in the Chambered section.

@mojohand24: Correct, your Bluesbird is made in Corona, visible on the CM serial number. FMIC owns Guild already since 1995 (!), so made in Corona has nothing to do with Fender ownership in the first place. The Guild factory in Westerly closed doors end of 2001 (means it operated already 6 years under FMIC ownership) and subsequently FMIC gave some space in their Corona facility to the production of Guild (if you tour the Fender factory in Corona today you will see that other FMIC brand guitars are also made there and the Fender Custom Shop is just a small area there.). For the history of Guild until 1977 you need to refer to the book "The Guild Guitar Book" by Hans Moust. Some of the later history is documented on the web (Disclaimer: Not all might be 100% correct there): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guild_Guitar_Company
Now some of the early Guild models made in Corona had a Fender Custom Shop sticker on the back of the headstock, because they were a kind of early made models before "mass production" had started in Corona. Some were also marked "prototype", as they were test models for new materials/builds. Based on the serial number I believe yours is a regular Guild production model made in Corona. If you want to know the exact year of manufacture (2002 or 2003) you need to send a message to Hans Moust, he can tell you.

Welcome Amplituden! Nice 'bird (and JF-4).
More pics and info are always welcome. (We'll need the year on the 'bird, at least, so it can get added to the list.)

Wow Steve, that thing is beautiful! I love everything about how that guitar looks. Let me know if you ever get the urge to sell it.

That's about as close as you can get to a practically new guitar. You don't get to see a lot of M-75s from that particular period with most of the gold still intact; unless the hardware was changed at a later date of course, but I wouldn't think that with the rest of the guitar looking really nice as well!

Great find!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Really nice M75!
that is a sweet rig.
I will add to the list.
I have the update, but my MAC exploded and I had to do a loat of work to recover my hard drive......
Just got it back, but my Adobe is gone. I will have to reload Adobe Acrobat so I can post the updated list.

Also BTW..... I was able to meet Grot and check out his band Night Shift. A good time was had by all.
We got to enjoy some drinks and good conversation between his sets. If anyone happens to be in the central Jersey area you should check them out.
Great group of guys and great tunes!

I was also great to meet you Dennis and your lovely wife. It was very nice of you guys to spend one of your rare evenings out with the NIGHT SHIFT band! I'm glad you enjoyed the music.

Hey, I'm a big fan of the Bluesbirds. Mine hasn't help up as well though. I always wondered if it was working musician's instrument before it came to me (around '92). The bigsby looks like an add-on - there are small holes where the original tailpiece sat covered by an old fortune. Character, I guess.

1973 M-75 Bluesbird, Black. Serial #93081
