I can't believe I forgot one of my favorite episodes in my random list above!
  • The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings
SO good! Also:
  • Parasites Lost
Love those. Oh, and don't forget "Anthology of Interest II" when Bender becomes a human. That was an equal in funniness (IMO) to Roswell That Ends Well."

BTW, streaming it right now, and laughing!

I've always loved the TV series. Right from the beginning! So, for fans out there.... It's back, folks!

Hulu bought the show a while back, and has been streaming all the episodes for a while now.

But the "Good News!" is that Hulu has made a new season after a 10-year hiatus. All the original folks in the cast. They're dropping a new episode for streaming each Monday. Two episodes are out already. Hulu calls this season #11, which conflicts with some of the other descriptions of seasons out there (including Wikipedia), but no matter.

What's weird is that Hulu is doing practically no advertising, even on it's own home page. I'll never understand the way these video studios run, but I laud Hulu for bringing Futurama back once again!
Heck yeah ! Look at me I’m a big kid now ! Lol 😂 always loved anime and Futurama was one of my favs. 😊

I see. Yeah, I noticed that Paramount+ is "bundling" Showtime in the same way... access through the Paramount+ app... Yeah, this game of cat and mouse will continue forever as these guys struggle to provide content and remain relevant in a world where streaming (vs. broadcast) is the future.

As a matter of fact, you should watch the first episode of the new season... It makes fun of streaming in a big way (and Hulu for that matter). I love these guys!
You should watch the last episode of the previous season (which is EIGHT dammit! [Stupid Hulu...]) first, if just for the opening scene text-gags.

Merlin, I don't think it's playing on Disney+ Make sure you check out Hulu. They've got all the episodes right from the beginning (1999). The "original" series is ill-defined, depending on where you ended up on the cancellation map. :) The new episodes are being aired as "season 11" on Hulu. This comes 10 years after season 10, which was 2013.
I am in Canada where we don't have Hulu.

Since Guild can't agree with itself about when an anniversary started you might wish to take a deep breath and cut Hulu some slack.

The Hulu numbering depends upon a definition of "season" that is not universally accepted. But it seems much better to argue about the definition of a season than how to count. Besides you probably won't win this one :)

Maybe you should set out to watch EVERY episode of Dr. Who that was broadcast in the UK and maybe the choices Hulu made won't be quite the problem :)

But tilting at windmills is a time-honored tradition!

I was just thinking that I bet they did this because there are some "ten years ago" gags in the new season and it makes seem like it makes more sense this way. It doesn't, but that's executives for ya'.

My ranting mostly comes from the fact that I keep local copies on a Plex server (I generally dislike all streaming services) and there are a LOT of shows where numbering the episodes is very problematic. This is mostly due to studios releasing DVDs with the episodes in a different order than how they were aired and services like TVDB.com refusing to acknowledge this. Thus, when you buy a DVD and rip it to digital all the episode numbers are wrong - or worse, some of them are wrong and it can be very difficult to fix. To their credit after a decade of refusing to change TVDB.com now supports "release episode" and "DVD episode" orders but now we also have to worry about "Streaming episode" order. It's madness.

That's not possible because early episodes have been lost forever due to the BBS taping over the only copies. 🤪

Not a huge fan, but my daughter is so I was apprised of the return with new episodes. I do enjoy the ones I watch.

Yup! It's fairly common for early television programs to be lost forever.

Did you know that there is only one known copy of Superbowl I? What's worse is the fact that the NFL claims ownership of it so the owner of the VHS tape can't sell it even though it's clearly worth millions. The NFL won't buy it and they have threatened legal action if he sells it to anyone else.

That's a funny story. Well, probably not funny to the owner of the tape.

When I first learned of it was kind of enraged at big business screwing the little guy, but copyright law is pretty clear that the content is owned by the NFL while the *tape* is owned by the current owner. As someone who's written multiple books that get copied and shared for free on the Internet, I totally get it, but the NFL is missing a big chance at some good will which, based on what little little I know about sportsball industry, also doesn't surprise me.

Just out of curiousity, how many desks do you have? And are they spread out throughout the house?

That depends on your definition of "desk" I suppose. :)

I have (counts on fingers...) three in my office and one in the climate controlled guitar room. I tried to get one added to the very nice living room but my wife said, "no". There is a desk built into the kitchen but that one's not mine.

In the office: Main desk with my main computer, writing desk, and workbench.
In the guitar room: a desk that matches my main desk since it used to be part of a corner desk set. This desk holds up my 3D printer and associated stuff.

Bender is on the Writing Desk which I got to have a dedicated spot for writing. As evidenced by the lack of blog posts, it is currently holding up Bender and some other miscellaneous junk of the type that flat surfaces often attract. And a Pit Droid from Star Wars. and Nixie Tubes. And...

Well, Bender is keeping an eye on that one for sure! :D

Bender was built at 33% scale. He is enormous at full size and takes something like 12 rolls of filament to print.

I used to watch when it was network TV (the first 4 seasons), but haven't seen it since. I have a lot of catching up to do. :)

Good news everyone!

There are only eight seasons that you need to catch up on. :)
