I've always loved the TV series. Right from the beginning! So, for fans out there.... It's back, folks!

Hulu bought the show a while back, and has been streaming all the episodes for a while now.

But the "Good News!" is that Hulu has made a new season after a 10-year hiatus. All the original folks in the cast. They're dropping a new episode for streaming each Monday. Two episodes are out already. Hulu calls this season #11, which conflicts with some of the other descriptions of seasons out there (including Wikipedia), but no matter.

What's weird is that Hulu is doing practically no advertising, even on it's own home page. I'll never understand the way these video studios run, but I laud Hulu for bringing Futurama back once again!

Huge fan. Seen 'em all 100 times and am rewatching again.

Hulu calling this season 11 is baffling. It's not. It's season 8.

This was my avatar on TGP for almost 10 years:

I changed it to this when Rick and Morty hit S2:

Been thinking of changing it back with the new season. Thought of changing it here, too, but I've had a gold harp here since the dark ages. :)

That's a tough one. There are many that I love.

Random list of favorites:
  • The Problem with Poplars
  • The Farnsworth Parabox
  • Every episode with Zap Brannigan
  • Meanwhile (which is the last episode of season 7 NOT 10)
  • Jurassic Bark
  • Amazon Women in the Mood
  • Roswell that Ends Well
  • Where no Fan has Gone Before
  • Three Hundred Big Boys
Sigh... all of them.

The number of gags in the show is off the charts. From serious math to real science to DEEP cut sci-fi movie references it just keeps on working on many levels. My kids (now 22 and 23) both love it but it's amazing how many of the jokes go over their heads.

Roswell that ends well is probably my favorite, GAD. Funniest, anyway.

Nice list! Like all of those. Zapp is a riot, but I think all the episodes with Seymour the dog are the ones I'd probably put ahead of those.

And, yeah, I agree about all the great sci-fi references.

:)

There are a multiple series I've always wanted to see, but haven't had the chance. Futurama is one of them. I've always been a huge Simpsons fan, so this makes sense. I also need to convince my wife to opt for watching it over political thrillers and docuseries.

For me Futurama also has a fair bit of nostalgia, in part because the early episodes often have references to things that happened back when they were made.

The first four seasons are the best, mostly because the later seasons didn't have the same writers, but they're all fun and the later seasons have some gems that shouldn't be missed.

I have only seen the original series years ago but noticed it on Disney+. Have put it on the watch list.
Merlin, I don't think it's playing on Disney+ Make sure you check out Hulu. They've got all the episodes right from the beginning (1999). The "original" series is ill-defined, depending on where you ended up on the cancellation map. :) The new episodes are being aired as "season 11" on Hulu. This comes 10 years after season 10, which was 2013.

I totally understand. When I first turned my boys onto the Simpsons years ago, I had to explain all the references to the happenings of the time. I actually remember seeing the very first Simpsons episode at an animation film festival with my wife! Yikes!

Disney is talking about making it so if you are accessing Disney+ you can also get Hulu "from the same app". The future of Hulu as a stand alone service is being reevaluated and Disney+ is trying to figure out how to bundle and price services with ads.

What is available is changing and new subscribers and people who are willing to pay for ads are starting to see different options compared to subscribers who started with the Disney+, Hulu, ESPN bundle.

One source.

I see. Yeah, I noticed that Paramount+ is "bundling" Showtime in the same way... access through the Paramount+ app... Yeah, this game of cat and mouse will continue forever as these guys struggle to provide content and remain relevant in a world where streaming (vs. broadcast) is the future.

As a matter of fact, you should watch the first episode of the new season... It makes fun of streaming in a big way (and Hulu for that matter). I love these guys!

Oh, and I notice today that Hulu is finally advertising Futurama on their own app. Maybe someone got fired by the execubots. ;) (don't worry, you're not going to get the reference unless you're a Futurama fan)
